The Sea of Meaning

Afflicted by loneliness, this despairing dismal heart A garden deserted by spring when autumn threw its dart My tongue is tied no longer, my lips no longer sealed Do I have a marred speech or my voice still unhealed In the burning heat of the tropical sun, my life has been strewn The serene shade of a lustrous tree is a luxury unknown My anguished soul may cast a shadow on my gloomy heart I lament not when the sky of life is sorrow overcast Nakedness is the common scene whichever way you see Tattered are the garments of morals and the gowns of decency Thoughts entrapped in my heart, Yamin, can hardly come to lips From the crowd of ignorant no one in the sea of meaning dips ----

Definitely! The last line was profound. even though there's a sense of lost in the poem, yet there's just so much... passion here that gives me... renewal. been ejoying your Quatrain and Ghazal in page 2 sir. will leaf it through some more. Thank you for your kind comments in my work. i'm not there yet, but who knows ~.~ Best wishes always. Mia

Glad I ran across this poem again. The last line really impressed me as it did the last time I read it. Gives the reader something to ponder. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the people of Japan and for your comment on my poem. They have certainly shown the world shining example despite their hardship. Keep on writing and sharing your words. Best wishes. Karen

Only we can mend those tattered garments. Thank you Mohammad for your kind remarks. My nostalgic poems always take me back to a time when we were poor but happy. We had it good because the government never told us we were poor and we saw the blessings of having little other than love. The government should keep their nose out of things they know little of. Few politicians have ever known struggle or the joy of sharing that struggle. God Bless. Vince
