The Path
The path follows a river
Thirteen and one half miles,
sixty eight thousand, eight hundred and ninety seven feet
Connecting the past, present and future
People come and go on this path, drawn or deterred by
the weather and wind that reflect God's will on that day
But the path is always there, by the river
Never changing, but ever changing
I know this path now as well as I know my own past,
as well as I know myself
It changed me, this path
My path
Walking this path took me from the past,
to the present and I pray, to the future
From pain,
to acceptance,
to change
The path will always be here by this river,
people will come and go, wind and weather
will be still, or will blow
Never changing, but ever changing
Long past my present,
long past my future
the path will be here
