Author's Notes:  This romantic Shakespearean Sonnet, entitled:  "The Noble Language," is a love sonnet set in Iambic Pentameter. The person who actually gave me the idea for this write is my colleague and good friend, Anne-Lise Andresen. The essence of this sonnet turns on the notion that "Tears are the noble language of the eye -- from the heart and soul." Moreover, in any loving relationship the power of love itself requires a harmonious interaction between two people as they are together as ONE. This is so important as any couple knows because of the complexities and challenges facing them as they "dance together through life," hopefully with great love and passion!! As with many of my past writes of a similar nature, this is a very emotive poem because of the subject at hand being discussed. I hope you will find this one of interest!!  (Gary Bateman, December 1, 2014) (Shakespearean Sonnet)

Categories:  allegory, beauty, emotions, feelings, love, romance, and together.

The technical parameters of this Sonnet are rendered as follows:

Syllables Per Line:  10

Total # Syllables:  140

Total # Lines:  14

Total # Words:  110

Rhyme Sequence:  abab|cdcd|efef|gg

The Noble Language Tears from your eyes are so special and true; They are real emotions from each eye, And reflect a love so deeply renewed; Our spirits soar high in the azure sky! Our heart and soul are ever the tears’ source; Our tears attest to love so rare dearest, And keep our love so special and on course, That I must be always with you nearest! Our tears—the eye’s language ever noble; They draw us together so close and one; Our love’s so special and ever noble, And our heart and soul together as one! Love requires we dance together as two, As Harmony pure brings divine love too! Gary Bateman, Copyright © All Rights Reserved, December 1, 2014 (Shakespearean Sonnet)

Thanks Laura immensely for your read!! I always too enjoy hearing from you. I love doing the sonnets and recently discovered a similar interest and joy with writing heroic couplets (of which I've done three so far: "Past," "Present," and "Future" by those titles in iambic pentameter). Talk to you soon. Best Always, Gary

Richard, Thanks so much for your read and for your kind words. I'm probably a lot like I am because I'm in the middle of getting my collected poetry ready for book publication this next year, which means I'm trying to break into the professional level. I do enjoy writing, as you do, very much. Since retiring last year, my writing has now become main vocation absolutely!! Best!! Gary

Rajat!! Thanks Sir so much for your most gracious comments!! I learn too from fine writers like yourself, as I hope they learn from me. I continue to experiment with my poetic verse the more and more I write. There is more that I don't know, than what I really know. (I'm working now to get my first book of poetry published by next May-June. More to follow on that!) Best Always Rajat!! Gary

Eve, Thanks so much!! I really like this sonnet too when I look at it as reader (and not only as the author). As I mentioned in my notes, I actually got the idea for the sonnet from a comment that Anne-Lise made separately about the nobility of tears as a language. The third stanza does fit just right. Thanks for the "7" and the FAV!! Best Always, Gary

What a beautiful sonnet you've created here my dear friend Gary. I can sense lots of emotions behind them tears and suffering. Tears are very noble when shed from someone's truest heart and soul. A very good one here in topic and style. Keep the ink flowing! A 7+++ for me! Have a lovely Tuesday! :) Love and hugs! xxx D.

"D" my dear friend, thanks for your wonderful comments and observations here!! Tears are indeed quite noble and a very emotive force. When combined especially with true love, they can even be all-powerful!! I'm glad you liked this sonnet and thanks for the super-marked up "7." My Ink will continue to flow . . . No worries!! Best Always XOXO, Gary

Hello Andrea!! Thanks for your super comments here so much!! No, I actually did not write this one for the Contest of Guatami. Maybe I'll enter it (if it's not too late) and see what happens. I've already read some poems by others who are entered in this contest, and they are very good!! Best Always Andrea . . . Gary!!

Anne-Lise, Thanks so much, and you're so right that "Tears are the noble language of the eye." I am so glad that you enjoyed this sonnet!! It was some work to write this one, but the end result made it so worthwhile. I say: "One whose heart and soul is full of content, is one whose life and deeds fulfill what our Angels on high meant." Cheers and Best Wishes!! Gary
