The Laugh Bubble

As I was walking down the road last week, Quite alone, no one around, I thought of something funny that I’d said And as I took a breath to laugh A little bubble gurgled in my throat And popped out of my mouth! It floated in the air in front of me, As I walked along the street Bobbing gently just below my nose Glinting pearly blue and green, A perfect circle of happy thoughts Made entirely by me. I tried to catch it in both my hands So I could show it to you But just when I thought I had caught it at last A gust of wind suddenly blew, And my little laugh bubble went spinning away, a tiny translucent balloon.
