The Journey

Each day a step toward our destiny
A journey whose end is not the goal
Relentless, as the rivers run to the sea

Wondering what the gods did decree
Always looking beyond the bend in the path
Each day a step toward our destiny

Plans and reality don't always agree
Making adjustments along the way
Relentless, as the rivers run to the sea

The heart years to run wild and free
And ignore the demands of life
Each day a step toward our destiny

An urge to know how the end will be
Life moves on without pausing
Relentless, as the river runs to the sea

Our mantra should be ,enjoy each day
For we may never again pass this way
Each day a step toward our destiny
Relentless, as the rivers run to the sea

Very enjoyable poem. I don't think I've thought of the same comparison before, but I love it. Not much current or rapids all add up.
