An Offshore Oil Rig..... miles from anywhere and not even a seagull for a neighbour at times.....

The Ironic Love Affair How small and insignificant Our ship appears to be When brought into perspective By the vast expanse of sea And yet she cradles five score men Who, for half a year Peer from her side, devoid of pride, With a grimace - if not a sneer. A voluntary splitting of our lives At which some moan and sulk To be aboard this massive beast This rusty, filthy hulk. But at the end of time spent here All smiles and grins and glee As the helicopters lift all from her decks And away from the cold grey sea. And yet return - we always do To our self inflicted gaol And repeat the cycle once again Inside our beloved steel female.
