When reality's shunned by youth
a sadness envelops your soul.
And time starts to unravel truth
for your heart no longer feels whole.
The betrayal of love's unfair
facing a future filled with dread.
Yet you are no longer a pair,
for he has abandoned your bed.
When the hurt becomes hard to bare
you try to hide inside a book.
Yet loneliness follows you there
and you feel frightened and forsook.
Fear fuels anxiety’s climb
taking emotions to extremes.
And having cried the umpteenth time
tears washed away all of your dreams.
You’re left confused and overwrought,
crushed by the fickle hand of fate.
And feeling depressed and distraught
life feels empty without a mate.
