The Ginger In the White Dress
"THE GINGER IN THE WHITE DRESS"
I've walked this house
many times,
I've lost count.
I have a backyard
but I never go out to it.
what for?
the lawn isn't cut,
the weeds are too long,
a dog I've never seen
shits everywhere at night.
the bastard waits,
until I am asleep.
I avoid it, it's true.
the world is just ugly.
last night the rain came,
today there is no sun.
surely the rain had to wash
away
all that was ugly.
I open the door,
the ugly world is still
there.
squeak, squeak, squeak,
I hear those squeaks.
to the left,
a ginger in a white dress.
a neighbor I've never seen.
with her back towards me,
she jumps.
up, then down,
up, then down.
the ginger with the white
dress,
the ginger with the pale
white skin,
the ginger whose face I
haven't seen,
the ginger whose squeaks are
a symphony.
how high
can you truly jump? I wonder.
it doesn't matter,
I'm already in Heaven.
as quick as I heard it,
it's now gone.
the ginger in the white
dress,
the ginger with the pale
white skin,
the ginger with the symphony
is now gone
and I am alone.
for a moment, I lost myself.
for a moment, the world was
beautiful.
for a moment, I wasn't mad.
now I stand alone,
in my backyard,
where the grass isn't cut,
the weeds are too long,
and the dog shits everywhere.
ginger in the white dress,
come back.
I need you.
