Author's Notes: "The Future," is a Heroic Couplet I wrote and set in Iambic Pentameter. This poem is the last in a trilogy of three heroic couplets concerning the nature of time and the impact it has on people and societies, whether events or situations in question occur in the past, present, or future. The emphasis of "The Future" is on the notion and nature of planned or spontaneous events as they unfold for people in the future on the human time continuum beyond what has occurred in the past and the present. This poem, as with the other two ("The Past" and "The Present") is considered principally from a metaphorical point of view. I hope that you will find this write of interest too!!
