The Fence Post Crown

9:15 PM 1 Oct. 2014 The fence post's crown Young hard and strong The fence post was planted in a fence a mile long Holding the line Keeping safe its wards through time Turning grey and cracking with age It's lines loosening on the outdoor cage The vines grew to help the post stand Wrapping tightly around it with every strand Decay took it's toll on the old post And just before it gave up the ghost The vine reached high flayed out in a circle above the post's head A crown to reward the faithful post now dead
