The Enemy Within

Racing thoughts filled with confusion Feelings of impending dread A 2500 mile journey to travel But I’m not straight in my head All alone on those highway roads I picture I’m starting to slip Three medication cocktails to sober me along Yet none of them seem to stick Heart pounding, clenched hands I search for any way out Of this madness, I must emerge But I’m filled with terror and doubt Why has this disease befallen me? What was my childhood sin? Always fighting this mental battle With the enemy within

It is not only bi-polar people who struggle with such feelings Christine. As a Christian I struggle as well, though my life might seem like a walk in the park to you. And I'm angry to at times with God. Like when my sister's first child was born prematurely and died within hours of his birth. Everyone you meet on the street is dying of a terminal disease called life. What are we to do with that? There may be answers but none of them are simple. From a recent poem, "Life's caveat, 'not easy!' "

As I'm sitting watching Dr. Oz talking to a mother who's son finally after years of problems was diagnosed with this sad sickness I decided to come over to read some of your poetry and this was the first one I opened. I pray you can find peace and the help you need to cope. Please don't ever think you are being punished for something you did. Jesus died so we could be forgiven. He did it because he loves us not to punish us for things.

I had an ex-girlfriend 40 years ago that was bipolar. I loved her dearly but she forced me away deliberately. It is a very bad state to be in and prayer and meditation works. That is how my brother's wife has coped so well for over 30 years now. Your write is a very fine one!!

I'm bipolar, so I can definitely relate. Jesus gets me through it all though. God bless you and love and prayers, Gina
