The Ecstasy
Ecstasy comes in many forms
I'm sure you know that's true
Religious, sexual, spiritual and more
But to me I've found one so strong
All others would make me blue
I'm a musician, and only musicians
can understand,
Thr rush, the high, the ecstasy
Of playing in a band
Sometimes, it's rare, I admit
When improvisation is set on high
Everything clicks, it "smokes"
with passion
No one knows just why
Goosebumps ripple on my skin
My organ soars to heights
This wonderful keyboard ecstasy
Makes me play beyond all rights
I'm on automatic,
My eyes closed
In rapture
My tape I trust
will capture
Me playing beyond my means
I don't know how it happens
It's weirder than it seems
I suspect that it's not me
But some spirit from somewhere
Whether or not this is true
My bandmates don't really care
All they know was the outburst of notes
Which greatly compliments me
I have no explanation
How this could come to be
I suspect a higher spirit
Maybe Bach or someone else
Replaced me for a moment
So my brain could take a rest
I think it is awesome
That two worlds can intersect
I do not complain about it
I just sit back and reflect
Their's more than meets the eye
In this world so mysterious
And if it's gona happen...
I'm just glad that it is us.
