The Beat of My Heart

I stare at my heart, As it beats on the floor. It's been ripped out, And stomped on, And chopped up into pieces. Though it has been mutilated It continues to beat. Thump, thump, thump, Thump is how it goes. It was dislocated by my lover. The one I loved the most. The one I gave my heart to. But after they decided That it no longer had any use. They destroyed and mocked it. Then turned around and left, Left me lying there In a pool of my blood. Wasting away, alone, cold, lonely. As the last life drains from my body, I close my eyes and wait, Wait until I can no longer Hear the beat of my heart.
