Thanksgiving
THANKSGIVING
This time of year we begin to think
It’s time to refresh our family links
We look back on absences pled
Or excuses we spoke; “so sorry”, we said
Full of guilt, we really want to atone
For the uncaring feelings we have sown
Well then, give thanks all of you that have gone wrong
A day of forgiveness, Thanksgiving, has dawned.
We count our blessings upon which we depend
As we gather around and join family and friends
We repair open breaches and try to amend
Family bonds we unintentionally did rend
Stories, laughter and tears we yet again share
Restoring our family-hood links we always wear
Love, pride and leniency always there.
This Thanksgiving Day our harmony is no surprise
Family revives, survives and when each day dies
Every day following echo’s yesterday’s sunrise
This Thanksgiving let’s rejoice we are all here
With family and friends we all hold dear
In harmony and good will let’s eat, drink and cheer
To a Happy Thanksgiving, our annual event
And “God bless all of us”, cordially and warmly meant.
