Tempest

Scattered ashes
on distant shores
haunted houses
decrepit, forlorn
isles of misery,
spread far and wide
a fierce longing
to drift along the rising tide
Burning fire blazes within,
raging heat searing through my ice-cold skin.
Ephemeral light of dusk gently fades,
shrouding me in eternal shade
But ‘neath the rays that ‘compass all,
the site where all demons must fall.
A shrine wherefore angels descend,
to heal a heart so sorely rent.
A heart that’s seen many a gale,
despite it all refused to ail.
long is the battle, long is the fight,
‘ere this gloomy darkness turns to light.
