Talking In Your Sleep
Talking in Your Sleep
It makes me laugh the times I chance to hear
you talking in your sleep! Sometimes you seem
just like a child, so innocent and dear,
and I can tell you’re in a silly dream!
The voice I hear sounds like a child of two
who needs his mommy’s reassuring hug.
as if you’re lost and don’t know what to do.
I feel my heart strings give a little tug.
Sometimes you seem to panic in your sleep.
You nearly scream, or frightful sounds you make.
And I can tell you’ve fallen very deep
into your dream’s abyss. You need to wake!
I shake you lightly, watching for your eyes
to open. “It was just a dream,” I say.
Then back you go where time so quickly flies
and hopefully, the bad has flown away.
