Survival

by Laura Paranoia, grip my throat and don't let go Do it quick and let me know just what to show I don't know when to smile or even when to cry I feel infinite and complete in the day that yesterday dies My heart and mind have set off to distant, nameless shores Knowing the pain in my past has always left me wanting more To find the elusive shred of a single, honest smile To find a reason to live instead of surviving in denial It's the very last promise I will ever need to make It's knowing of all these unwritten moments at stake But even in the darkest of nights I still want to feel her touch And as long as she's near, I know that we'll never need very much.
