Sun Blessed
To look intently into you
almost renders me blind
And yet, your daily illumination
provides the clearest view I'll ever find
I saw you differently recently
Through a prism of glass
your rays, tinted at the rim
mirroring your energy mass
Upon further inspection
I tried to count each vertical wave
the heat almost permeated the glass
with each surge of warmth that you gave
Approaching too closely
will deem total annihilation
Yet you are life, announcing
another new day of hopeful elation
I forget that you provide such strength
How kind of you to remind me
as you bathe my glistening skin
morning star gleaming upon my body
Quench my thirst as I drink of thee
Nourish me with the heat of every ray
Even as red and orange merge with yellow
signaling the end of yet another day
Hydrogen burning into helium
That's how you shine like gold
Gaseous orb aflame like a fire ball
Such a brilliant spectacle to behold
Paying homage to your elements
such an essential component of my birth
Sun, I embrace you
Shedding light upon this earth.
