Summers In the Valley

Summers in the valley A distant memory Still plague her They were all about love Those memories seem so far away When innocent children used to play With heavens watching From above Skies bluer than his eyes Lying beneath the starry skies What happened To that heartfelt vow Running through the green fields Between rocks and little creeks Anxiously waiting in the balcony For a message from the dove And if there be a rainy time Spending hours inside Impersonating Princesses and knights Grandma's broth boiling on the stove Now she returns to that old world Not a laugh not a word Remembering all those times Singing songs reciting rhymes He grew up and so did she Grew apart and the bonds grew too weak Silence fills the empty house Since no one no more plays cat and mouse She looks at the hills Leaning over the window sill But the magic is gone Just like the tune of their own little song She hums the tune to herself Reaching for a book on the shelf Magic and the tune both be gone But her memory not yet lost Summers in the valley A distant memory Still plague her They were all about love.
