Stupid
I can’t believe I didn't know –
Stupid is that fails to see
for every thing revealed to me,
so many more you didn't show.
I live denying constantly –
Stupid doesn't realize
that passion’s fire within your eyes
will never only burn for me.
The signs I didn't recognize –
Stupid is that clings to thought
that people change, when each day brought
the warning of my faith’s demise.
Lover’s plea was all for naught –
Stupid is that firm believes
your hardened conscience ever grieves
in fear it will be someday caught.
Although I stay, my spirit leaves –
Stupid is that sits in wait
for you to change my awful fate,
my mind, my trusting heart deceives.
I live in this uncertain state –
Stupid is that silent stays
and hangs on every loving gaze
in hopes of masking growing hate.
This girl that sees your cunning ways –
Stupid thinks that long ago
can sometimes just be simply so
and foolishly, your game she plays.
