Strike Against the Dark

I cannot feel your hurt,
yet, I know it exists.
For deep within your heart,
an emptiness persists.
I cannot share your loss;
grief's a personal pain.
And it teeters on the
brink of sane and insane.
I cannot dry your tears
or take your pain away.
And depression will come;
although it will not stay.
I cannot lie and say
things will be as before.
For you still can't accept
that you'll see him no more.
I can only say that
death's a natural course.
And to lean on your faith,
for God's love is its source.
I offer you solace
when reality's stark.
And a friend with a match
to strike against the dark.
