Stop harassing me with your hate Stop flaying me with your frustrations Stop inking me with your insecurities Stop cutting me with your cruelty Stop lacerating me with your lies Stop searing me with your satire Stop abusing me with your anger Stop battering me with your brutality Stop degrading me with your derision Please…. Just leave me alone Leave me alone Let me love Let me laugh Let me survive in a world Where sympathy is sterile Where joy is jaded Where happiness is haphazard Where fantasy is fleeting Where contentment is capricious Leave me alone To bear these burdens Let me live Eileen Manassian For all victims of abuse

Abuse...We've all seen it happen, the effects...and unfortunately have had to deal with it ourselves...Powerful verse here, and excellent use of alliteration, Eileen. The ending too, is heart-wrenching. "Let me live" what a way to end this... Always, Laura

Sadly abuse is rampant in the world but there are also many loving and kind people as well.

In cases, where we fall victims to verbal abuse, we do not ask someone to stop but we STOP him/her at once! If these people, for any reason, are disrespectful then we are not obliged to be respectful to them. Any delay from our part to react like that makes us suffer more and make them to become bolder! Great write and great truth, dearest Eileen!

Thank you, my esteemed boundaries. We must be sure to make people aware of our boundaries. When they cross, uninvited, they must be asked to leave. It is a hard lesson to learn, dear, but I will not let people be abusive to me if I can help it. Thanks for being a dear and beloved friend here. Filakia.

Excellent poem. When someone else builds themselves up (whether intentional or not) at another's expense it is the highest form of cruelty.

Oh Eileen, you definitely make their voices heard, the message is very clear ...Abuse is always bad, when its physically, but not least when its verbally. Yes.. Stop, to any abuser who thinks he can weaken the others.
