St Paul Cemetery

obsessive morbid shadows preying on the night call upon the angels’ grace fill their hearts with light they only wish to rest now shadows of the past nestled safely underground comforted at last of course they felt abandoned fear was all they knew ghosts held hostage within their bodies wholeness split in two their softened earth is sacred in death lies their release six feet deep two feet wide may they rest in peace

Such a sad story. Too bad embracing God isn't enough for him. Good use of rhyme and imagery. Powerful way to convey your thoughts. Keep on writing! Karen

This man digging his grave must feel so lonely in a world of strangers, He is yearning for love and for living, cos He only exists..If he could look up at the sky and feel the sun warming his heart, maybe things could be different..heartfelt indeed..Charma

The vision of this man digging his own grave is striking, Yoni. Sometimes we dig our own graves without knowing it, but here it is his intent. People who feel abandoned, loveless and alone are very much like "ghosts imprisoned in the body." Beautifully written, my friend. Haunting, really, and I will probably dream of "the lonesome withered shadow" tonight. Love, Carolyn
