Spirit In the Sky
For sooner or later we all will die in laying our body to rest
Hearts broken as they stand there and cry on your behest
But why would there be tears but for a heart that's broken
Or perhaps fears that they didn't listen to the Word spoken
They didn't go to church and didn't really have any belief
Finding one's self in such a lurch would cause such grief
No one nicer would you meet, a good person all around
But there is reason to repeat that God just wasn't found
Now that day is here, being lowered down in the ground
Who knew the time was near the doctor said all was sound
And yet here we all are surrounded by friends and family
Returning to our car we just thank God it wasn't you or me
That Sunday at Mass, there, they were laid upon my mind
Through that stained glass there was such a beauty to find
And I couldn't help but recall all of those times in the past
One day we will all fall in leaving behind only His Light cast
