Soldiers
SOLDIERS
S ome nameless, faceless fighter forgotten on the front.
O nly those who love him share his fear.
L eaning on his rifle, he stands his lonely guard.
D etermined not to let them see a tear.
I magine how alone he feels inside.
E xpendable to most of that he's sure.
R emember how he stood so filled with pride.
S aluting as he smiled and waved goodbye.
Judy Ball
We send our girls and boys off to fight in some foreign land.
We tell them how proud we are of them.
They are filled with pride in God and country and in us and themselves because they
are doing a good thing.
Then they get over there and the staark reality of it all hits them like a sledge
hammer.
We have to do our part by letting them know we haven't forgotten them or how
much they are sacrificing for us.
