I always expect something really weird to happen during a solar eclipse, but usually nothing truly happens. It's just an eerie feeling. Lovely!

Hi Jan. Love this haiku. Was watching the eclipse on Friday. With some light cloud cover we could see to perfection. Tony

Sadly Inverness wasn't graced with the eclipse. Our lovely Highland clouds and weather was a dampener for such a spectacle. Hopefully next time, nice one Jan, hugs//James xx

You are getting the idea, don't try to put too much in Jan & remember to join the 2 lines grammatically [the moon blocks/ the sun nightfalls: birdsong ceases] 1 subject/noun + 1 action/verb in the 2 joined lines :) Light & Love

This is an excellent haiku, Jan! I remember seeing a solar eclipse when I was in elementary school. It felt exactly like your last line...darkness came and all was silent...hugs, Rhonda

One of the three things that make an eclipse- sudden dusk, cool air and silence from the birds. Nice Haiku, Jan. Viv x

Hi Jan! I would have loved to witness the eclipse today, even if online, sadly wasn't able to do so.... very fitting haiku for that particular moment.... btw, thanks for commenting on my nonsense-- I was being kinda sneaky, trying to snag a spot for a contest ;). I translated it but not really too happy with it, might change it still when I have the time....

Thanks Paul - the silence here was eerie - the sky was pretty overcast anyway so we couldn't see the eclipse but the sky went very very dull and then it started to brighten it was fascinating to watch:-) Hugs Jan xx
