Smile

Reaching forward, pulled in reverse Tentacles of, depressions curse Smiles on the outside, are not real Hiding the true way, that I feel Illusional reality That I hope will soon set me free It's not my goal that I pretend I'm trying to make this sadness end Smiles given, meant to protect you I don't want you, to see me blue I wade through the muck for a while My best protection is this smile If I let it, this smile may lift Outer image, inner mood shift Dedicated to anyone who is going through a season of sadness. It does not have to be a permanent condition. Help is available.

This is very thoughtful of you Richard. Countless numbers of us are affected by depression and I too believe that "attitude" makes a huge difference... smiles beget smiles! Great job! Always, Annalise

It is sad that so many people do and safer in silence. The world needs more men like you who are not afraid to share how they are feeling.

Richard...another amazing write. I suffer from depression and it is often very hard to have the courage to smile. You expressed how I often feel. People don't understand the difference between having a bad day and real depression...thanks for sharing. I'm one of those who needs the poem!

Very nice Richard; A smile can always hide how you really feel inside. My daughter - always has a smile on her face eventhough, she might have all the problems in the world. No one ever knows. Thanks for sharing. Lucilla
