Slumber Song
As I watch my child at rest tonight
it seems I view a song;
the melody now slumbering lies--
it was playing all day long.
The lovely, lilting lyrics rang
around my feet since morn,
till twilight time gently changed their tone
to a lullaby, soft and warm.
O, lovely child, rest well this night;
may angels guard your sleeping form
until you waken with the dawn:
your song anew each day is born.
