Sky?
What's up there?
What's out?
Why
Is that place there?
Does it do something?
It's a bright blue envelope
Containing the earth.
Too bad there's no window
To see
Whom it's addressed to.
I want to have it,
But I'm trapped inside!
I wonder if I could
Get out if I tried.
I want to know who mailed us.
Maybe all my thoughts
Float up there and
Keep the world spinning.
Is there enough air
Up there
For all life to breathe deeply?
Would humanity be better off
If it stayed electric
Blue forever,
Or would we miss
The darkness we so fear?
Have we grown accustomed to a miracle?
Don't lock me away;
I want to look at it!
I will stand atop the highest mountain;
Will it take me?
Tell the secret I wish to know!
Am I as undeserving
As billions before me,
Who've gazed upon you in wonder?
