My knees crack and creak like an old barn door And I can't just take a seat anyplace, anymore. I can no longer get up if I try to sit on the floor. My hearing is pretty good, but my vision is poor. I am starting to hunch at my shoulders and back, And Doc says I must stop straining my sacroiliac. This old body needs naps, with the energy I lack. My ankles are shaky with my balance out of whack. My feet are too small, and I've got a fungus on my toe. Nothing seems to help cure it, as it continues to grow. My hair falls out by the handfuls, it's beginning to show. My efforts seem useless, so I'm just going let it all go! 9-13-16 Knees, shoulders, back, sacroiliac, body, ankles, feet, toe, hair A body of work - Poetry Contest for Money Sponsor Viv Wigley

Good Morning Connie. I turned to this entry at random. This is the smile and chuckle for the day. Thank you for that. Yes, this has two sides, the seriousness of life and the fun with play. I choose the fun with play. Your words are true. And to your ending I say yes, just forget everything and let all go. Wonderful in its entirety. Enjoy the morning and day.

Oh dear, Connie...you are not alone in this predicament:)) I have no problem with aging, but elders deserve better treatment, especially after all those years of hard work!! Thank you for an entertaining write:) Regards // paul

The secret is in teaching our young to understand and respect that as you age you still feel young but your body changes causing limits as to what we can do. I get this point across with pictures of me when I was young doing things I can't do now. Thank you for your visit and nice comment Paul . : )

This one is so good I just had to read it again. All but the feet - I can wear a size 14 and I like to do so my arch is so long. Have a good Sunday. Love, Dave

Very well done! We must laugh, eh? And you did that, created a swell of laughter in me that got Tim's attention. I wrote for this contest, but only in my head while drifting off to sleep (that laughter REALLY got Tim's attention) and I never got a chance to sit with it. I truly enjoyed your clever write ... I was thinking this was for the old age contest and was wondering where the congrats were, and then I realized it was in a contest that is yet unjudged, right? I sure hope this one wins. It's so awesome, Connie.

Aging is an inevitable part of life, so why do we worry so much about looking younger? I agree, we just need to let it go... A great poem for the contest! Some good humor in this one, Connie. Nice work!

I agree, I don't feel the need to try to look as young as my daughter's. I enjoy being a grandmother and don't mind took my the part. Thank you Kelly. : )

hey, you gotta put this in Sara's contest too. I have that one poem of mine that also fits into the Victim / Victor contest. But I need to use the title Victim Victor in that contest. Trying to decide what to do about that!

The syllable count doesn't match Andrea. Wish I could use it for both because I seldom ever write humor. Thanks, Connie

I really enjoyed this poem, Connie! Humorous, but with so much truth we can all identify with...well, our generation, at least! Well done and best wishes for the contest! 7 Hugs, Sandra

I wish there was NO truth to it at all Sandra. How did my body fall apart without me taking notice? It seemed to happen overnight. Thank you so much for your nice comment Sandra. : )

All of the above, dear lady. You are hitting on all cylinders. I might add a few little pains, but you nailed the big ones. Got a creaky old chuckle out of this one. Love, Dave

Thank you Daver. Wish someone would have warned me I wouldn't be able to hike and climb when I got older. It came as an unhappy surprise. Lol. ; )

Very funny, Connie, I enjoyed it. At the same time, this poem constitutes the agony of old age. :(

The agony is in the fact that I can't move around fast anymore or hike. I did manage to go horse back riding for my birthday though. Thanks Sarban. Aloha, Connie
