Silent Witness

In the land of eternity At Elflame, Where the nymphs lived Grew a giant mahogany tree Memories rely on its every leaf Reddish-brown trunks, Darkens over time Silent witness of the elapsed days Laughter and joy Pain and sorrow A complete life extravaganzas That sealed by fate In every rotation of seasons Remain upright stand Full of hopes and dreams An old mahogany tree

Makes me think of the tree as a metaphor for the Earth Shirley - sometimes I respectfully wonder if english is your 'first' language because of how very unique your voice is - I like your grasp on the Divine - J.A.B. %

I admire your deep and strong perception of this poem, Justin ^_^. English is not my first language. I live in Indonesia. "Bahasa" as our first language here, its of the indo-european family language, equal to the malays. I prefer to express thoughts and feelings in english because I think it would sounded more beautiful, and not rigid. Thank you for your sweet review :)))

Gorgeous! Ah, the power of silence and the changing of the seasons. How valuable they really are. A beautiful piece, Shirley.

This is a stunning piece of work Shirley!...A beautiful and haunting fairy-tale like poem...Reminds me of JRR Tolkien or 'The Hall of the Mountain Kings'...You must be new to the Soup and if so, welcome! - Tim
