Sharpen Up the Axe

When I woke up this morning in my warm comfortable bed I wished I could stay there and go back to sleep instead But the Lord was beckoning and I knew I'd best obey So I got up and prepared myself for what the Lord would say I thanked him for watching over me throughout the night And allowing me to wake up surrounded by his light Then I stopped and listened and as he began to speak Just the power in his voice was enough to make me weak He told me how it made him sad to see his children fight Over things that arn't important like who is wrong or right I could feel his urgency his concern was very deep For many of his children who have fallen into sleep He doesn't want us wasting time trying to prove someone wrong He wants us to come together we've been fighting way too long Time is passing quickly there's no time to be lax He wants us to be prepared to sharpen up our axe
