Shadows Still Need the Sun
Your zest for life first caught my eye,
you were truthful, young, wild, and free.
For you had no reason to lie,
and your innocence intrigued me.
You were a fledgling soul on wing;
such an unexpected delight.
And your eyes were vibrant as spring,
sparkling with exuberant light.
We shared dreams built on trust and hope,
as fears and doubts were cast adrift.
And for the first time, I could cope,
your support was a treasured gift.
Eyes open; you taught me to look
and that shadows still need the sun.
And you gave much more than you took
as our souls melded into one.
