God grant me serenity The opening line Of a prayer so old But still just as powerful God grant me serenity Serenity, the word That tells of peace, Calmness and tranquillity God grant me the serenity To accept what I cannot change To accept the things Which forever drag me down To accept what I cannot change Tis hard to say Especially when our way Becomes burdensome and long God grant me the serenity To accept what I cannot change Courage to change what I can To brighten a life where I may Courage to change what I can So hard to do sometimes When the world stares us in the face And says “You can’t” God grant me wisdom To know the difference When I have done all I can To further Your kingdom God grant the serenity To accept what I cannot change The courage to change what I can And the wisdom to know the difference.
