Seasonal Change
I rise slowly,
Dull witted and dumb,
lethargic from the lack of sleep.
The summer heat once drained me
holding back my energy
but cool, crisp autumn mornings
wrap and keep me snug beneath the covers.
Now winter rises -
the seasonal brisk change,
there waits the icy cold snow
to call me out to play
then quickly push me back
to hot cocoa and warm downy comforters
to keep me safe and wide awake.
