Where is the poetry in me? Gone! I fear it is gone- The release of each new meter Hidden as a new fawn Where is the rhythm of my soul? Where is the key to being? Dear Lord, it is within Your love What is it I’m fleeing? You, Lord, are the orchestra, You, Lord, are directing; You, Lord, are the writer of verse I, Lord, am reflecting Ah! The verse lies deep within me, Struggling I pull; I’m wrought To find heart-mind-soul assonance Vibrating with my thoughts Unlike the fawn, I do not hide Rather I seek to learn, Guide me Lord as I seek rhythm In my soul where I yearn -Evelyn Pearl Anderson
