Scent and Sensuality

Sense and Sensibility
Surely has its worth
It rules with iron first
But devoids one of mirth

Sense and sensibility
Simply do not tantalize
They are demure and sedate
They're not much to visualize

Scent and Sensuality
Are demanding in appeal
They captivate the senses
The allure is vivid, real

Mystery invades the heart
With one whiff of the perfume
Eyes will linger on the form
Of a woman in full bloom

Sense certainly has its say
Sensuality- its dream
Scent and sense intertwine
To make a perfect team

A woman blessed with both
Is beautiful to behold
Her appeal is much stronger
When she has a heart of gold.

It flows beautifully. Enjoyable poem that refers to something that inspires me a lot: The attractive scent of a perfume. It was a nicely crafted write, Eileen. Thank you for it. G.

I've never read the book, but I like your twist on it. Being sensible is important, but if you have no "wild side", so to speak... you don't have much flair, and things get a little drab. But the same is true if you are simply all flair with no common sense. It's a balancing act... but you seem to have things in check. Great job on this!

Yes...I surely don't like drab! Little short on the common sense, my dear. My emotions are way to strong to let common sense have its way! Oh well...at least I know my fault. :) Thanks for writing.

This is the first of your poem's I have read. Such a well crafted piece, so ellegent and you have captured that sense of refinement that is in Jane Austins books. Excellent couplets also, a joy to read.

While reading this work, actor Al Pacino suddenly came to my mind. He won his Oscar for his performance in the film "Scent of a Woman". Good write.

The inspiration for this poem came from two lovely people who complimented me last week. One was taken by the amazing scent I wear (Elie Saab- The Perfume), and the other about how sexy I look. For someone who has struggles…these compliments were a healing balm. Also, I loved the film adaptation of the book by Jane Austin, Sense and Sensibility. Kate Winslet and Emma Thompson were the embodiment of these two concepts. I just love the classics.
