Safe From Saturday

Did you love her

On your wedding bed

To force your seed to plant

A wind- up child

With strings attached

The puppeteer you cut

And fed this lifeless doll

The soul of Winter Lake

Where you took the virgin maid

To dance a sacred smile

Issue your decree

Brand him memory

When rip the chest

To feed upon the jeweled heart

And kick the can of man

Down familiar roads

A smoke to burn the infant sins

That take your past to task

To kill a loveless child

Who ran six thousand miles

Safe from Saturday

Where shade of Earth

Was moist from borrowed men

Who wanders in decline

To line their bed with scorn

That chained me to his pain

To call me on their wedding day

From field of tall tall corn
