Running Away
«Petersburg!
I still do not want to die»
Osiph Mandelshtam
I run from bad weather.
The winds rustle, and they worry trees.
My years pursue me.
I am running from myself.
The autumn rains hang down.
Now there is disorder and discomfort in nature,
and my thoughts pursue me, torment and do not give me rest.
My years fly faster and faster,
sweeping away all hopes along the way.
Through the wind I shout,
«My Loved! rescue me and keep me safe!»
