Rewind

In this place, this state of mind, Thoughts of you and I, rewind. Though much devoid of any joy, These thoughts take time to re-deploy. Each moment spinning like a web, As emotions start to flow and ebb. The solace of stoicism washed away, Rawly replaced by nerves that fray. No place for fear in idle mind, When watching history redefined. The meaning of each token changed, As life itself is rearranged. As here the aftermath invoked, All rights or privilege past revoked. The movement now is to the fore, Never backwards, ever more. No glimpse behind, no glance to pose, Our love lays now a wilted rose. Though ever was it bound to end, For a while, at least, we could pretend. At last it seems the fictions fade, Replaced by lists of errors made. Now I marvel, in this state of mind, At how quickly love is reassigned.

I like this, reminds me of a certain relationship I had years ago...history always seems subject to revision (and dilution)...
