Reminiscence of Wall and I
The rooster has swallowed the night again. And here we sit,
face to face eating hungrily at each others’ hearts without
a word between us spoken. The room is much too large,
though small for our bosoms are filled with loneliness,
no candle light which we can see, no breath of life
which we can breathe, we only gaze into our eyes,
weary of life and tired of living, yet this has made us
understand each others' whispering these soundless words
spoken from our hearts. No barrier restrains us, nor does distance
keep us apart for if we, but stretch our arms as a withered tree branch
without life, we could come together, we would touch. Yet we are not
to stretch our arms, instead we sit here face to face, we will never try
to touch our limbs, for I know your warming hand has passed over
my wounded heart, my trembling hand is rested on your shoulder
which is crushed by heavy burdens. Moonbeam and stillness
has flowed, and you, and I, also flowed; the rooster has swallowed
the night again, and here we sit, face to face eating hungrily at each others’ hearts without a word between us spoken.
