Poetry Soup...My New Friends

I am not a poet. And those who read my poems know it. I do not write deep, dark thoughts. My mind won't think that way. The only kind of thoughts I think are happy glad and gay. For writing something light. I might be very bright. But writing something deep. Would only sound real cheap. I would love, as some of you, to write something so profound. So that when on Poetry Soup you read. It would really knock you down. I don't pretend or put on airs, It's plain for all to see, I can only do my little bit and be just plain ole' me. And as I stated at the first, please note and don't forget. I'm not a poet and I know it, but I'm glad we all have met! For all of you good people on Poetry Soup. I'm not a poet really but a musician. Love trying a little though and appreciate every comment and all the help that everyone has given. Thanks....Marty (Please don't call me Martin, that's someone else) lol

The reason you get called "Martin" is because that's the name your writing is listed under so, Marty ... change the name and we'll all call you a wonderful writer ... LOL ... no seriously, a musician has a perfect "ear" for how the written word might sound rhymed or not. Several of us have written trying to sound like jazz and of course there is always rap ... smile ... anyway, thanks for your comment on my writing and Welcome to the Soup !! Keep writing ... !!

Marty, what musical instrument do you play? I took violin lessons as a child but have forgotten it all. I enjoyed the poem!

Marty, it's not about being great, it's about being consistent. Consistency is the key to great work. And remember, all great poets were first and foremost amateurs!!! Keep being inspired and you will develop into a great poetic voice...Raul
