Pitter Patter

I, feeling the pitter patter Quickly swell within my chest, Organized the thoughts that matter And threw away the rest. I thought about your deep brown eyes; Eyes that take me far away From fettered earth to open skies Beyond our night and day. I thought about your lips, so soft Speaking each new sugared word Enough to send my ears aloft And flapping like a bird. I thought about your touch, so kind; A tender dance upon my skin That made my very thoughts unwind Each time I let you in. I thought about your beating heart And how it pitter patters, Forever sure to play its part In a love that matters.
