Pink and Grey
And today your life begins
From the womb burst forth
With the violent spasms of new life
We come, pink, screaming
Into a cold world smogged over
With the gasses of our indifference
We grow tall and strong like weeds
In yards uncertain, dusty and grey
We thrive like ants
Our drive unkillable
And we grow ever faster,
And the day you see the first ashen hair
You smile and realize you haven’t long
Wizened by the times you’ve spent
you see whats all around you
your smile fades and you pass, disgusted
you came pink and screaming
you leave grey, accepting
for you now know the world
and know we killed it.
Long ago.
