Pieces of Dreams
Try to be quick
Yet try not to hurry
Try tho’ you may
You can’t help but worry
They may not mean
What at first It seems…
Pieces of dreams!
Pieces of dreams!…
Flitting away
Like mice…in the night
Refusing to stay
Try tho’ you might
Taunting…the gleams
The fast fading beams
Of pieces of dreams
Pieces of dreams…
Heavy with meaning
Some reeking of fear
No sense to be gleaning
From a smile or a tear
Remnants…of happiness
Echoes of screams
Fuzzy remembrances
Pieces of dreams!
Try not to recall them
Best let them lie
Stay out of their realm
No not, what or why
Through the night
Mind’s faint traces
Scant seen faces
best not seen
But in pieces of dreams
Pieces of dreams!
It’s another world
That exists in our mind
Where the brain lies curled
And tries to unwind
In the night…in our sleep
In It’s own private keep
Til we startle awake
to pieces of dreams!
Pieces of dreams!!
Of which only we know
Of as bits and fragments
Half remembered traces
Dim places and faces
The mind’s sacred places
That fade e’er so quickly
in the morning’s first gleam
In our sleep…of our sleep
Only pieces of dreams!
…Pieces of dreams!…
