Pictures Drawn and Framed Today- Portrait of Youth

The grass was always tall and green, Every day seemed like a dream. In the tenderness of youth, All of life rang with the truth. Oh, the wind blew just for me, When I ran so wild and free; Cooled the sweat upon my brow. It all comes back to me somehow. Treasures of my yesterday, Pick me up, take me away. Memories etched deep in sand. Destiney reached out it's hand, As the fire in me grew; Where it led, God only knew. Pictures drawn and framed today, Take me back to yesterday. The times were so much different then. I thought that it would never end. Blood ran red hot in youthful veins. I kicked at life and held the reins. Charged hard in stampedes every day, That led me further on my way; Where storms were met with confidence. I saddled up the turbulence, And rode upon the strongest gale. Now youth is gone and I just sail, Life's quiet waters peacefully. The wind is calm... I'm truly free.

Thanks for sharing this... exposing your wisdom through your unique poetic style. Meanwhile, I greet you with the love of the Lord, expressed by John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Be blessed.

wow, another awesome one I am seeing. You are writing at your best here. This part is just crafted incredibly well: I saddled up the turbulence, And rode upon the strongest gale. Now youth is gone and I just sail, Life's quiet waters peacefully. The wind is calm... I'm truly free.

Yes, Jack. I used to be quite a rebel, always loved the good fight, so exhilarating. But, now I choose my battles only if necessary and this keeps the blood pressure stabilized. Thanks for your comments, my friend.... Robert.

Yes, Faye, I love that freedom too. It only comes with time and experience, but, it is so welcome. I couldn't understand it when I was young. Too many dreams to conquer. But here we are my friend and it is so relaxing.... Robert.

Ahhhh....Robert, this is lovely and expresses how I feel at this stage in my life. FREE! Is this a stage God just gives to us at this age or am I experiencing something unique? For me, it is the best time of my life. Love your poem.

Hi Faye. I don't believe what you are feeling is unique. I believe there is a calmness that comes in this stage of life. We have come to accept things more easily and there is a comfort in our relationship with God. I have never felt so free in my life and just as you say, it is the best time of our lives. Thanks, my friend.... Robert
