Party of the Garden's Pride
Tea Rose arrives first, claims her chair by the bird bath
as Irises turn bearded faces on the path.
They offer admiring glances to Gardenias,
who promenade ahead of the pink Begonias.
Black-Eyed Susans adorn our festive garden deck,
where Florida’s Orange Blossoms stand so erect.
Shuffling through the garden come seven Dianthus,
followed closely by a host of Lisianthus.
Tea party underway at the garden table,
Four O’Clocks make a tardy showing, unable
to raise their weary heads before late afternoon.
Here in my back yard with these flowers I commune.
Imbibing nectar, joyful hours just slip away,
but we vow to meet again the very next day.
