I always keep a dictionary next to me so when I see a word I don't know I can learn it, and copse was it today, that made my day to read something awesome and learn something new :)

Yes, Casarah, good move. Similarly with Thicket, Coppice and Clump, all useful words to have in a Haiku armoury. Thanks for the comments. Viv x

No no, Linda- night SHIFT :) ready for the hunt, and he had competition; Leopard up in the rocks. Fortunately, not enough meat on me for either of them :)

LOL, I like your comment on my poem Viv... More, I love the imagery here. Isn't it something how one Owl sit while many trees rest alone... Now this is a haiku, I love it.. Linda

Thanks, Linda. I remember crossing the Namib desert at sundown and seeing an Eagle Owl ready for his night shift on a solitary tree, the only one for miles, and thinking 'wow, tree- what great company you keep'. Viv x

I only hope we give them the space and freedom they need to exist. We've seen a lot of habitat destruction and pollution. That beauty is something special.

I have never seen an owl on the Island apart from ones in captivity and that is such a tragedy - hubby and I went to York last year and they had a falconry display and also many owls - I spent ages just staring at them and taking photos their is a charm to them like no other - i think it is their faces so fully of character:-) hugs jan xx

I get a regular visitor on our TV aerial- I have several bird feeders at the end of the garden which attract mice, so I think the Owl uses it as a drive-thru. Thanks for popping by, Jan. Viv x

Thanks, Kim. Peaceful when it doesn't keep you awake at one in the morning, but I'd miss it if it wasn't there. Viv x

Yes, a lovely word for a small thicket of trees. And thicket is a nice word, too. Chose copse since it goes with 'atop'. Thanks for popping by, Andrea. Viv x
