Overwhelmed

Now with mass media I can see over there So many disasters The World now can share Numbing our senses With sensory overload Hunger and pestilence I see bombs explode For me to stay sane I have to ignore When it comes to news it's not good anymore I do my best to help Over there and here Will aid reach them Is my underlying fear A drop in a bucket I can't give enough Perhaps I can give A bit more of my stuff How can I be happy Live a life without care When I'm filled with knowledge Of others in despair

I can relate to that, at the senior center we did a fundraising drive at the grocery store last week, seems the people who have the least give the most, I do believe understanding is wealthier than riches...hugs

I think we all feel this way. I was up "too" early as usual, unable to sleep and I actually had this kind of thought in my mind, wondering how God can even care about my little problems when there are so many others suffering more than me? It's so strange to think about it. To think of all those who endured wars and holocausts and wondering why we escape it and how we will act if it comes to us too? A very scary thought.

Fortunately our God is all powerful and yes interested in every aspect our life. No life is comparable. We are living the life we need to live and God says all things will be used for good, even when we don't know what that good is.

We all got a case of "sensory overload". I think one is so exposed with so much violence and bad news on t.v. that one starts to tune out and become so deaden with the latest news. We have to watch out though so as not to lose our humanness and our sensitivity. Great write, Richard :)

If we stay connected to God's heart the numbness turns to love and action.

this is the tragedy of our world....we ignore...if its not about me its of no concern..sadly thats the attitude that defines us....this numbness has snatched humanity from us.....

I think people do care, they just feel overwhelmed by the enormity of the problems that exist in the World. Each small thing we do adds up and can have an enormous difference. Like Mother Teresa we can choose to love one person at a time.
