Only For Show

Only for Show There are times that a book you may need But how many of them will you ever read? And placed out in open for ammunition Showing that you read with a an ambition. It is more then likely that you have lied And all the many books have caste aside While I surreptitiously had some suspicion Each eye was greatly glued to the television. How about a book here and one over there And in the end anyway you never did care Books can be seen wherever you may go But, of course, they are really only for show. Thanks for the poem "Only for Show." Getting older I read more poetry because it is shorter and my focus on a long book isn't there anymore. I wrote "The Shining" which is for my brother and his wife that don't even have to speak sometimes, due to the depth of their understanding each other! Thanks for your comment, James.

Brian, Yes, I was wondering what all your poem was about so I wrote this short one for you. I will be 74 in June incidentally. So this is why I prefer poetry writing; It is quite simple and always inviting; Beloved book will take hours to read; Now am old and a poem is all I need. Agreed? Jim Horn
